Sunday 7th May – Bike **** Around Felixstowe – sunny Periods
After days of windsurfing it was good when the wind eased and went offshore
so had a relaxing morning listening to Ed Sheeran on Desert Island Disc’s
:) Then with a little sunshine appearing but with the sea front busy with a
sad old car rally we decided to head the opposite way for some peace and
quiet.
First stop The Grove a small wood on the out skirts of Felixstowe, with the
bluebells now past their best they have been replaced by smelly and very
pretty wild garlic with its lovely white flowers. Then out onto Gulper Road
to the track towards Trimley then turning right ending up at our favourite
spot having a cuppa and some chocolates just given to us by some friends
for walking their dog. As usual the view is stunning, its then down the
track to Kings Fleet which is full of swans on the water. A Yellow Wagtail
then flow along in front of us, the first we have seen. We see a Marsh
Harrier and an anchor shaped Merlin as we got to the River Deben path. A
mile on we reach the sea back to The Dip seeing a couple of paddle
boarders.
We bike along The Fludgers and cliff top home seeing from a distance the
old vehicles on the prom. Out for 2hrs 25 mins covering 12 miles, had a
cuppa while ringing my Dad to check up on his recent visit to Las Vegas and
must have been on the phone 5/6 minutes, a record!
